Oil / Acrylics

This is a collection of 100 oil and acrylic paintings that run the gamut from loose to tighter renderings. Some artists make paintings that are accurately true to the reference photos from which they are working. I admire their focus and skills. But I prefer a more transformational approach, a rendering that is visually distanced from the original source. Even my tighter pieces are not literal representations. I don’t have the patience for the amount of time that it takes to pay that much attention to detail. It is not in me to strive and labor to create a painting that is an exact copy of what I am looking at. The photographer has already done that. I even fool around with Mother Nature. I like to exaggerate, change things and sometimes incorporate pieces from different sources to create a new image.
